What is cymaheal?

It costs 22 € including VAT and runs free for 14 days, and is part of the Temple bundle (all four plug-ins for 77 €).

What is cymatics? Read the guide

Sound has always drawn figures: sand on a bowed plate, ripples on water. cymaheal draws them for your music, live, while the audio passes through untouched.

It listens the way the ear does, follows the melody instead of the kick, and tells you what each tone is: the note, the Solfeggio or chakra record it matches, and the figures that share it. Send the visuals to a projector or record them as a movie.

Three media

Watch the figure on a square plate, a disc or a water surface. Tuning, Partials, Response and Delicacy shape how detailed and lively it is.

Readings with meaning

Every reading shows frequency, note and the matching Solfeggio, chakra or Cosmic Octave record with its body point. The library holds 1,266 records, each with its source.

Healing tones and breath

Sound a pure, binaural or pulsed tone from 20 to 2000 Hz into the track, with a beat from 0.5 to 40 Hz. The breath guide swells and settles the ring around the plate at 3 to 12 breaths a minute.

Planetary hours

See the planetary day and hour for your location, counted from your sunrise and sunset in the Chaldean order. Sound the hour plays the Cosmic Octave tone of the current hour's planet.

Prints and scrolls

Fingerprint a whole song and save it as a picture card and data file. A session scroll writes down every figure that holds for a few breaths.

Stage, Syphon and video

Open the figure in its own window for a projector, send it to Syphon, or record QuickTime movies that start and stop with your song. Export Seven planets, Cosmic Octave, Solfeggio, OM just and A = 432 tunings for Live 12 and Scala.

In the studio

Leave cymaheal on the master while you mix and watch which figures your leads, kicks and pads draw. Fingerprint a finished track and compare it with your earlier ones. For live sets, Beat Stage and Bar Stage change the figure on the beat or the bar and pulse with the tempo, ready for a projector or Syphon into Resolume or OBS. Arm recording, press Play, and each playback becomes a video for your release.

In the healing room

Run your microphone through cymaheal and let clients see the figure each bowl, fork, gong or voice draws. Sound a Solfeggio or Cosmic Octave tone from the Tone tab, breathe together with the breath guide, or sound the tone of the current planetary hour. Begin a session and the scroll keeps a record of every lasting figure, which you can save and share. Open the visuals window on a second screen for the whole room.

How it's built

The modelling, the research and the choices behind cymaheal.

Are the figures real physics?

cymaheal has two figure engines. The Classic engine, the one you see, draws the textbook figures: the classic cos·cos approximation for the square plate, membrane modes for the round plate, and breathing mandalas for water. They are stylised on purpose, because they read clearly at a glance and follow the music smoothly.

Under it we built a physical engine that solves free glass plates with Kirchhoff plate theory and an 80 mm water dish with the real capillary-gravity waves. We use it to check and tune the figures.

What is the physics checked against?

The square plate, solved with the Rayleigh–Ritz method, reproduces the eigenvalues in Leissa's Vibration of Plates (NASA SP-160) exactly: 13.468, 19.596, 24.270, 34.801. The disc is within 0.3 %.

Against Chladni's own tone tables from 1787, all 31 square-plate tones land on the right mode, with a median error of 28 cents, and disc figures 22–66 have a median error of 31 cents. The best-fitting material is glass (Poisson ratio 0.22), which is what Chladni used. One question is still open: his figures 2–20 sit an octave and about 60 cents away from the rest, probably a second plate or a slip in transcription.

How does it follow the melody instead of the kick?

Since version 2.9.5 the spectrum is weighted the way the ear hears it (A-weighting), and only clearly pitched peaks, at least 9 dB above their surroundings, steer the plate. Kick thumps and hi-hat noise are ignored. On a test mix of kick, rolling bass, lead and hats, the plate follows the lead note by note: 440, 523, 659, 587 Hz, four different figures.

Where do the 1,266 library records come from?

Every record carries its source title and link: Chladni 1787 and 1817, Wheatstone 1833, Faraday 1831, Hans Jenny, Alexander Lauterwasser, Margaret Watts Hughes, CymaScope and more. Each is labelled as measured or as tradition. Claims such as Rife frequencies are kept as history, not as fact.
